Ultrafiltration Water Filters
Advanced UF water systems for clean,
efficient and reliable filtration
AllWater Technologies supplies high-quality ultrafiltration water filter systems designed to meet the rigorous demands of industrial and commercial water treatment. Our UF water systems provide a dependable barrier against suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, and colloids—delivering superior water quality while reducing operational costs.
Whether used as a pre-treatment for reverse osmosis or a standalone solution, our ultrafiltration units combine robust engineering with energy efficiency to support long-term, high-performance operation.
What Is Ultrafiltration?
Ultrafiltration (UF) is a low-pressure membrane filtration technology that uses semi-permeable membranes to separate microscopic contaminants from water. UF membranes have pore sizes typically between 0.01 and 0.1 microns, which effectively remove:
- Suspended solids
- Bacteria and viruses
- Organic molecules and colloids

Unlike reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration does not remove dissolved salts or minerals, making it ideal where essential ion retention is required.

How UF Water Systems Work
Our ultrafiltration systems use hollow fibre or flat-sheet membrane modules to physically strain impurities from water. The water is pushed through the membrane under low pressure, with contaminants trapped on the surface or within the membrane structure. This process ensures consistent, high-quality output with minimal energy usage.
Typical system features include:
- Backflush functionality to prevent membrane fouling
- Chemical cleaning protocols (CIP) using sodium hypochlorite or sodium hydroxide
- Advanced flow configuration (inside-out or outside-in) for process flexibility
- Compact skid-mounted design for easy installation and maintenance
Ultrafiltration is widely adopted across industries where water quality is critical to product quality, safety, or regulatory compliance.
Common applications include:
- Food & Beverage: Clarification of juices, whey concentration, and ingredient water production
- Pharmaceutical & Biotech: Particle removal and pre-treatment for purified water systems
- Metal Finishing & Surface Treatment: Removal of oils, heavy metals, and suspended matter
- Pulp & Paper Mills: Effluent filtration and water reuse
- Municipal & Utilities: Pre-treatment for disinfection or RO systems
Our industrial ultrafiltration systems are engineered for long service life, low total cost of ownership, and seamless integration into your process line.
Energy Efficiency
UF systems operate at significantly lower pressures than nanofiltration or reverse osmosis, leading to reduced energy demand and lower utility costs.
High-Quality Output
Consistent rejection of turbidity, microorganisms, and organic loads ensures clean water that meets quality requirements for sensitive applications.
Modular & Scalable
Our units are built to scale with your process. Whether you need a compact unit for pilot trials or a multi-skid system for full production, we can provide a tailored solution.
Pre-Treatment for RO
Ultrafiltration enhances the performance and lifespan of reverse osmosis membranes by significantly reducing fouling and particulate load.
AllWater Technologies supplies both standardised and bespoke ultrafiltration solutions, depending on your flow rate, feedwater characteristics, and site footprint. Options include:
- Fully automated control systems with HMI and PLC integration
- CIP skids and chemical dosing systems for membrane cleaning
- Stainless steel or GRP frames for hygienic or industrial environments
- Integration with other treatment stages (softening, pH correction, RO)
Our in-house engineering team works closely with you to specify, manufacture, and commission your system—ensuring perfect alignment with your process needs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Ultrafiltration removes suspended solids, bacteria, and viruses using membranes with larger pore sizes, while reverse osmosis removes even smaller dissolved salts. UF uses lower pressure and retains beneficial minerals.
Yes. UF systems are highly effective at protecting RO membranes from fouling and extending their service life, making them a common pre-treatment step.
Membranes should be backflushed regularly and chemically cleaned based on fouling rates. Replacement typically occurs every 3–5 years, depending on usage and feedwater quality.
Yes. We offer trial units for testing or short-term capacity needs. These can help validate membrane performance under real operating conditions.
Absolutely. All our UF water systems can be fitted with automated controls, PLCs, and remote diagnostics for ease of operation and process monitoring.
