Mechanical Design Engineer (SolidWorks)

Cheddar, Somerset | Full-Time, Permanent

What You’ll Be Doing:

As part of our innovative design team, you’ll play a key role in transforming concepts into reality:

  • Create detailed P&IDs, layout plans, and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks
  • Develop and manage a 3D library of standard plant items
  • Collaborate with project engineers and clients to ensure designs meet spec
  • Support the quality control and validation of our manufactured systems

About You:

  • A degree or qualification in Mechanical or Design Engineering is preferred, but we value hands-on experience and practical know-how just as highly.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and a working knowledge of MS AutoCAD Lite (or similar CAD packages)
  • Ideally, 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design
  • A self-motivated, “can-do” attitude and willingness to get involved across projects
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire to continuously learn

Please note: This role is primarily office-based, especially during the initial training and onboarding period. However, there may be scope for occasional home working on a discretionary basis, depending on project needs and individual performance.

    Field Service Engineer (South West)

    Field Service Engineer (South West)

    Full-Time, Permanent

    Responsibilities Include:

    We are seeking a motivated Field Service Engineer to support our customers across the South West of the UK. While the role is primarily focused locally, you should also be willing to travel across the UK — and occasionally overseas — to meet customer requirements. Some time spent working away from home should be expected.

    As your skills and experience grow, you may also become involved in the commissioning of installed systems. This may involve extended visits to customer sites, ranging from several days to, on occasion, a couple of weeks.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Servicing and maintaining water treatment systems such as Reverse Osmosis, Deionisers, Filters, Water Softeners and Effluent treatment Plant at customer sites around the UK (and potentially overseas)
    • Managing direct relationships with customers and plant operatives.
    • Analysing and resolving problems whilst both at site and by way of remote support.
    • Completing installation and commissioning of plant (subject to qualification and skill set)
    • Completing Service Reports and other associated documentation (using MS Word)
    • Responding to customer needs in line with commercial and technical specifications of AllWater Technologies Ltd.
    • Assisting the company with service improvement initiatives; taking a proactive approach to increasing productivity & profitability.
    • Ensuring that a high level of customer care & service is maintained at all times
    • Ensuring that all company policies inc. Health & Safety are observed and abided with at all times
    • Enhancing your own skills and knowledge through proactive learning and self-development 

    About You:

    • A multi-disciplined electro-mechanical engineer with relevant qualifications
    • Experience with the water treatment industry would be an advantage
    • Experience of having worked as a Service Engineer or in a field based technical support role would be an advantage
    • Passionate about providing a first-class service to our customers.
    • Strong communication skills both verbally and written, with the versatility to communicate at all levels in a clear and concise manner
    • A professional approach to your work and communication with colleagues and customers
    • A good level of IT competency, specifically MS Office
    • GCSE or equivalent – English and Maths
    • A full UK driving license is required and a willingness to travel

    Location: Home-based but willing to work nationally and abroad.
