Getting serious about water – April 2016
Whilst commercial and industrial consumers may not feel that they underestimate the intrinsic importance of water, a recent report by BBC News Business Reporter, Richard Anderson, has highlighted the incalculable value of this magnificent seemingly indestructible resource in more detail.
Acute awareness of the risks to business of water stress across the world has created a real need for manufacturers to fully investigate usage throughout their supply chains and seek to reduce consumption wherever possible. With an increasing reliance on manufacturing process in ‘water poor’ countries many organisations are now taking a new approach, assessing the risks associated with their processes and imposing strict targets to drive down future requirements.
As you take a break today to enjoy a cup of coffee (which has taken on average 140 litres of water to produce!) it is most certainly worth reading more about this incredible natural product and reflecting on the responsibility we all have to preserve it.
